How did she change over the course of her stay in New York? Remember, she was only supposed to stay for six months but ended up living there for eight years. Why did she stay so long?

4. What literary devices does the writer use to describe her experiences while living in New York? Provide two or examples from the text and explain how they lend a deeper understanding of the theme of the piece
