How does this paragraph that i wrote sound Tom Buchanan was brought up from a wealthy family where he owns a gorgeous large estate and was a football athlete when he was of a younger age. Daisy Buchanan references their money and the East Egg as “old money” (Fitzgerald), representing both Eggs where Gatsby had to work for his wealth and Tom did not. Nick Carraway states, “They were careless people, Tom and Daisy – they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money of their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made” (Fitzgerald) which only furthers the characterization of both Daisy and Tom of who have been privileged of living without consequences as well as the meaning of class during that time.
