I wrote this fable for an assignment, but I can think of a moral of the story. I'm looking for a moral that sound's as well written as Aesop's, because I wrote a very Aesop-esque story, thanks! (here is the story;) Once there was a Rat who would steal from a shop in a village. The Rat had gotten away with it for years, until finally, his burrow outside the village was found by a Snake. The Snake was amazed by the amount of cheeses, meats, and trinkets in the Rat’s nest. But he didn’t want the goods. He wanted the Rat. The Snake thought, “With all of this food, that Rat was sure to be so fat and delicious, I would have food for weeks!” So he decided he would go into the burrow, and hide under the goods. So he slithered in, and waited, and waited, and waited. Eventually, the Rat came, only this time, he was carrying a big, metal watch. He said to himself, “This watch is so shiny, I can see my reflection! I’ll put it over there, so I can use it as a mirror.” So the Rat set the watch down, right on the Snake’s head. “AAAHH!!” the Snake cried, “I’m stuck!” The Rat, surprised by his unexpected guest, jumped back. “Rat, help me!” The Snake cried. The Rat, realizing what was happening, said to the Snake, “No, I don't think I will.” The Snake cried, “Well why not!” “Because you were trying to eat me.” The Rat said. “I think that you can sit here, and think about what you’ve done.” The Rat started putting more heavy objects on the Snake, Stopping him from moving. The snake was stuck there in his home, but the rat was kind enough to give the snake his meat and water, lest he don't die. After a week, the Rat let the Snake go. The Snake said, “Why are you letting me go? I tried to kill you!” The Rat said, “I think you’ve suffered enough for your deeds. I’m willing to let this go, as long as you never try anything like that ever again.” So the Rat let the Snake go, and the snake learned his lesson that day, and steered clear of the Rats home for the rest of his life.
