May someone please answer these? 1. When I am asked to state a theme of the text, what does it mean? Please give examples. Would it be like Family or Love or more specific like being moral is the right way or something like that? Is it a phrase or a word?

2. When do I use a period in quotes and when do I put it after? For example, if I wanna say evidence from something, do I say: The author stated in paragraph 2 saying, “The only dog I enjoy hanging out with is my own.” Would period go inside or out?
