A tomato is a fruit because anything that has seeds are a fruit. Many people say that a tomato is a vegetable because it goes in a salad and anything that goes in the mix in the salad is a vegetable but it is not a fruit.

People get confused because they say "but how is a banana a fruit if it doesn't have seeds?" Well a banana does have seeds. A banana has seeds in the middle of it just that it is very small.
