On the advice of a well-meaning "friend," I booked a visit to Gaffe Salon. My "friend" had raved that Gaffe would take me "from drab to fab." But as soon as the stylist draped the plastic cloak over me, I knew something was amiss. The cloak smelled of old hair and cheese. I asked for another, and that one was even worse! By this point, my stylist seemed annoyed, with much sighing and shaking of the head. But as she snipped and whisked and curled and blew, she seemed to regain her earlier enthusiasm, every so often stepping back to admire her work and nod wisely. When I finally looked in the mirror, I was dismayed. Somehow, the stylist mistook my disappointment for delight. To add insult to injury, she whipped my foul-smelling cloak off with a flourish, proclaiming me a work of art. Which sentence best summarizes the author's position?
