Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban By J. K. Rowling In chapters 1-6, we have several examples of behavior that some might see as “bad” or “evil.” For example, Harry breaks the Decree for the Restriction of Underage Wizardry when he “inflates” Aunt Marge. We are introduced to Sirius Black who supposedly “murdered thirteen people with one curse” (67), a dementor attacks Harry on the train, and Malfoy is attacked by Buckbeak the hippogriff. How do you see these examples? Are they examples of evil? Why or why not? How do you make the distinction between evil behavior, bad behavior, and behavior that is justified, and how do these or other examples in these first six chapters illustrate your ideas about these distinctions?
