Hercules, the son of Zues, and Atlas had made a deal, Hercules would bear the weight of the sky for a short while as long as Atlas travelled to pick three golden apples. After retummg with the apples Atus didn't want to have the sky again and told Hercules to wait a few hundred years until he felt like taking it again. This was unfair and went against their deal so Hercules tricked Atlus into taking the sky back​
