Did anyone read jesse?i really need to finish this.
at the protest in delano, leslie tells jesse a story about how he once had to kill a puppy he owned after the dog was hit by a car and badly injured. leslie tells jesse that he buried the dog under a tree where the dog could hear the birds sing. how does the story about the puppy make jesse feel? what does the story show readers about jesse and about leslie?

ONE 
 
Jesse is the more adventurous brother, whereas Abel is the more mature and responsible brother. Take for instance the part where Jesse decides to run into the woods. Just so you know, Jesse was basically scrubbing his hands and feet clean when a deer trotted by him, knocking a bee hive into Jesse's cleaning area. Jesse freaks out, the deer scatters about, and then Jesse goes and chases it down while he's swatting at bees. At this point Abel is just sorta standing there and laughing about the bees, but when he sees how serious Jesse is about tackling the deer, he starts yelling for Jesse to stop. Jesse doesn't listen, but he loses the deer, and this causes Abel to go search for him as the sun begins to set. 

Now take for instance the part where they are eating dinner and Abel says the prayer. He begins to start laughing on the inside while he's praying, which shows that he also has a sense of adventure, by praying distracted at the dinner table. Jesse even looks up and smiles about it while Abel is praying. 

 
TWO 
 

Abel, being the older brother, gets sent away to Vietnam. Jesse is deeply saddened by this and so he runs away from home (only for a day just so ya know in advance). This is where he crosses the striking grape workers. During this conversation he meets a man who is in the strike, "a short stubbly man with a large mustache", who basically tells Jesse that "a good steady job" and a "committed dedication" is all somebody needs to be successful in life. 

Jesse sees Richard Nixon in a television shop as he and his mother are walking downtown (she's shopping for Christmas). She's looking to buy her husband a TV and learns that their family just can't afford modern technology. Jesse overhears the discussion and recalls what the striking grape man said about work. At this point Richard Nixon grasps his attention with a speech about Cambodia being a "pitiful, sleeping giant", and since this concerned Vietnam, it effected Jesse emotionally. Later in the story, Nixon's resigning speech is what jump starts Jesse's early rebellious stages into crime-resorting decisions.
