The Odyssey moral values depicted are those of loyalty, self-control and family. Loyalty being an important aspect of values which are depicted by Odyssey is by his devotion towards his family. Despite all the obstacle on his way Odyssey is determined to return home and to his wife.

Further in The Odyssey depicts the Greek value of hospitality,

"Greetings, stranger! welcome to our feast. there will be time to tel your errand later."

In the above quote depicts the hospitality of Telemachus to a stranger, who is not known and that he is offered much.

Another instance which shows hospitality is when Penelope asks the maids to care for the beggars. "In the morning light, you'll bathe him and anoint him so that he'll take his place beside Telemachus feasting in the hall."

Then the value of loyalty is found in The Odysseys through the instances of,

"And you must keep it from my mother... so the old woman vowed by all the gods, and vow again, to carry out his wishes..."

The above quote depicts the loyalty of the nurse to Telemachus about not informing his mother due to her swore to stay loyal.

Another instance which depicts loyalty is when cowherd shows loyalty Odysseus who states that if Odyssey would fight for him if he were to come back. "Would god it all came true! you'd see the fight that's in me!"

Lastly, the Greek value of the self-control is highlighted when on reaching the island of lotus-eaters he is not tempted to eat the lotus fruits himself whereas, his men take the lotus fruits and lose all desires to return home.

Also when Odyssey does not give way to steal the goat and cheese by his men from the Cyclops, this depicts the self-control highlighted by Odysseys.
