In this excerpt, the narrator describes the look of her aunt. She states that the first thing she noticed (because it was so conspicuous) was that she was wearing a dirty linen duster. However, beneath this, she was wearing a black dress with ornamentation that seemed to have been done will little taste. Moreover, the author states that the aunt had a complicated figure, so that most things did not look good on her. We can conclude that the aunt was dressed inappropriately.
