Later that night after the final duping, Huck was in conversation with Jim, the runaway slave of Miss Watson's. Jim asked Huck if he was ever surprised about the way their companions acted with the people. Huck replied that he wasn't surprised for they are who or how they are born to be, and that he had "reckon they’re all alike". This shows the belief that Huck has that not many people can be trusted.
