For a play to be considered a comedy, there are some elements that must be met.  One of the most obvious is tone, which must be playful and funny, and the “Twelfth Night” certainly has that.  Another element that should be present is deception and disguise, and this we get in how Viola dresses as a man.  The confusion Viola’s dressing causes is certainly building up to conflict and climax; thus, this makes it part of the rising action.
