How would you describe a vampire squid to someone who has never heard of it?

Vampire squid are a deep-sea creature.  They are only 6 inches in length with tentacles and a large bulbous head like an sctopus.  It can change colors to hide.  Remarkably, it has the largest eyes compared to its body size of any creature on earth. Despite its mere six-inch length, its eyes are as big as those of a large dog.
