Why does odysseus giving away his name to polyphemus cause him so much trouble? it slows the men down and three of them are killed. it allows the other cyclopes to track him down.. it allows polyphemus to curse odysseus. it doesn't; odysseus is safely on his way when he taunts polyphemus.
