The concept of American Exceptionalism relates very closely to the concept of Manifest Destiny. Manifest Destiny was the belief many Americans held that God had predetermined that America would become the most prosperous country in the world. American Exceptionalism refers to the idea that America is exceptional or like no other in it's existence. Usually used to make America appear very good it means that America is different or even better than other countries. The concept most likely came about from the growth of America whether viewed as right or wrong. America proved to be a pioneering country.
