Jack was envious when his cousin maci became valedictorian her senior year. "some people are just born smart, and they don’t have to work for anything," he told himself later as he started another level in his video game. of course, he wasn’t around all those late nights that maci spent studying and working on her course work. jack was jealous when his other cousin carter became homecoming king. "some people are just more popular, no matter what," jack thought while watching the newest netflix series. he wasn’t with carter while carter made signs and tiredly campaigned for himself either. jack was the most jealous when his younger cousin cale became the starting quarterback, though. "some people are just blessed with athletic skills," he told himself as he scrolled through his facebook feed. and of course, jack was not with cale during the endless hours of practice, time spent learning plays, and conditioning drills. "one day, i’ll be lucky and something great will happen to me," jack though, as he crunched into his big mac and fries.
