The literal meaning of pouring poison is a person's ear in "Hamlet" is that they are telling lies to people to mislead them and as a result they are pouring poisons lies in that persons ear. The symbolic meaning of pouring poison in a person's ear, reminds of the symbolic meaning of the snake in The Garden of Eden.
