Summer in New York City can get very hot, ranging from around 60-95 degrees average. In New York City summer is a time where lots of people visit, and it is traditionally busier because most children have school off.

mitchell enters the story after the accident. he is a lawyer who learns about the accident based on other characters observations. though he tells the story from a first person perspective, he is just an observer.
