Read the passage from "The Legend of Arthur and the Swords.”
"I like the sword, of course!” Arthur said, laughing.
"Then you have made an unwise choice,” Merlin said. "The truth is not always clear. Certainly, the sword will make you a great warrior and help you win many battles, but it is the scabbard that has the greatest value. He who wears it will never die of his wounds.”
Arthur considered Merlin’s words and said, "I will guard it well.” However, over the years that was not always the case, and it came to pass that the scabbard was lost.
Sarah reads the rest of the story. She learns that as a result of Arthur losing the scabbard, Mordred is able to attack Arthur.
Based on these plot events, what is the theme?
a)Never trust a knight.
B)It is important to be king.
c)Always keep your sword covered.
d)It is important to keep your promises.

Before ending this lesson, take a moment to review an informative research essay you have written. you’ve probably already written a conclusion to the essay. but is it the best conclusion it can be? does it properly summarize the main subtopics of your essay? does it state in one or two sentences the “so what” of your topic. if your topic was abraham lincoln, your essay shouldn’t be just about abraham lincoln. it should answer, “so what about abraham lincoln? ” take five or ten minutes, and looking only at that single paragraph, revise your conclusion
