Suppose that an out-of-control train is barreling down the tracks toward five railway workers who are unaware of the impending danger. You are the only one witnessing this but can save the five workers by flipping a switch to divert the train down a different track. However, on this different track a young woman has just tripped and is stuck on the track. If the switch is flipped the train will avoid the five workers but kill the young woman. What do you do? Do you flip the switch to save the life of the five workers even though you will kill the young woman? Do you do nothing and let five people die? what if the young girl was your mom or sister.
