Write at least 150 words about changing your speech for different social situations. Think about any differences in your word choice, word order, and/or accent that you speak with when you are around different people. You can relate a story about a time that you had to do this, or had to do it and were unable to. Or maybe you've had an experience where you or someone else did not fit in to a particular situation because of the way you, he, or she talked. If you cannot think of any stories, you can just describe the differences in the way that you talk around your parents, friends, and teachers.
You will be graded on the following criteria:
Make sure each paragraph contains one main idea and supporting details. Use complete sentences including compound and complex sentences.
Include an introductory paragraph, proper transitions, and an appropriate conclusion.
Make sure your essay contains no errors in conventions such as spelling or grammatical errors and is at least 150 words long.
