for efficient transportation systems. The subway was one such system. It originated in London, England, in the 1840s. By 1890, engineers had created a subway system that
trains by electric traction. Soon, many major cities developed their own electric subway lines. By 1896 and 1898, respectively, Budapest and Paris were cities that
electric subway trains. The first U. S. city to develop an electric subway system was Boston. Nowadays, most people in big cities in New England, as well as in Washington DC,
on the electric underground rapid transit.
