I always say the “i” but I rush over it. See second pronunciation below. It is literally the word “busy” with “ness” tacked on. It is meant to be said as “busy-ness”

..as in “the act of being busy.”

…I would actually counter that the “i” is in fact not silent, nor was it ever meant to be, but along the way lazy people just stopped saying it correctly. Therefore it is a mispronunciation.
