Peter is another work experience student who is placed in shipping and receiving in a large department store. Peter also finds that he has slow times when there are no trucks
to load or unload. At the beginning of his placement, he asked his supervisor what he
should be doing during the slow times so he knows of several tasks that he can do. He
doesn't particularly enjoy the tasks; they are mostly cleaning and tidying and getting
the floor ready for the next truck to come in. Peter accepts the duties as part of the job,
and overall really likes his position. Sometimes Peter discovers other jobs that need
doing, and if he knows how to do them, he gets them done. When Peter is doing these
extra tasks he is often amazed at how quickly the time flies.
At the end of the placement, Peter's boss also has an opening for a part-time job.
Explain why or why not:
If you were the boss, would you hire Peter?
