Vacant lots can become troublesome eyesores in big cities. Spokane, Washington has found a beautiful solution to the problem. The
Spokane Mobile Mural Project provides temporary barriers between the lot and passersby. The city recently erected an eighty panel mural
around the perimeter of an empty lot. Seventeen artists painted the murals and dozens of people helped install them on the fence around the
lot. The artistic display is only temporary, City officials hope there will be new construction on the lot in the near future. When that happens,
the mobile murals will be moved to a new place in need of beauty.
How does the underlined sentence best contribute to the ideas in the paragraph?
1. It explains why vacant lots are good places for the murals.
2. It suggests that more mobile murals may be needed soon.
3. It explains why so many people are needed to support the project.
