dread and terror. However, despite Enkidu's warning and
his own temporary paralysis upon seeing Humbaba,
Gilgamesh charged at Humbaba with his axe. He
demonstrated that he was able to summon the bravery
necessary to overcome his fear and attack the
frightening beast.
