Finished a essay just need help editing and reviewing it please As a graduated High School student with a few AP/Honors classes taken in English, I still wouldn't consider myself to be an excellent writer. These classes I took during High School most definitely helped me become a better writer but not a great one. Over the years, I did improve extremely well, as I wrote more and more essays.
In writing, there are many elements that go into a great essay. For one, having a strong structure, including your introduction to the topic, and having body paragraphs to back up your claims and ideas. Your writing also must have a conclusion that goes over your thesis and your final words about your arguments and your ideas. In all my past writings I meet those goals. But sometimes I will not express enough ideas in my writing leading to not having enough paragraphs, which ends up lowering my grade at the end. One time my freshman year of High School, I didn't know about structures and how I was going to set up my piece of writing. So I did what any 15 year old would do. So I wrote one huge paragraph with no introduction and zero backlash and not many things to talk about in my writing. But as time went on I started to improve on those mistakes and started to take advice from others who had a good understanding about those types of things. For example, In chapter one, of “Inside Colleges and Universities It talks about how many students ask themselves questions about the topic before writing as it can bring up many more ideas and build stronger arguments in their writings. I feel like this is an amazing idea and look forward to using it.
Also, In “Chapter 1:Inside College and Universities” It talks alot about “based prior experiences such as the writing you did in high school or in a work setting, some students find that writing in colleges focuses less on personal experience and more on research on writing.”An I am starting to connect with that as my friends have told me the exact same thing. In High school we were writing about personal matters and not really creating works cited pages and research was not even close to the amount college level writers do.
Over the years, I have learned many strong strategies that work for all types of writings. For one using strong diction, when I write I try my best to use different words and phrases. This helps me in a huge way as I sound professional and appear to be a strong writer. I also tend to use many credible sources that many people know of or have heard of. This makes me connect with the reader which creates a stronger bond, making the reader extremely interested in the piece. Also having the knowledge of knowing rhetoric helps immensely in your writing. I'm a huge fan of using Logos in my writing as it is strong evidence and makes you sound clear.
Overall, I would consider myself to be an average writer. But I hope to change that, as I learn and connect with other writers. I also would like to get much more familiar with this textbook as I see many great ideas and lessons waiting inside.
