Write three paragraphs on the poem below. First of all, it’s a big responsibility, 1 especially in a city like New York. 2 So think long and hard before deciding on love. 3 On the other hand, love gives you a sense of security: 4 when you’re walking down the street late at night 5 and you have a leash on love 6 ain’t no one going to mess with you. 7 Because crooks and muggers think love is unpredictable. 8 Who knows what love could do in its own defense? 9
On cold winter nights, love is warm. 10 It lies between you and lives and breathes 11 and makes funny noises. 12 Love wakes you up all hours of the night with its needs. 13 It needs to be fed so it will grow and stay healthy. 14
Love doesn’t like being left alone for long. 15 But come home and love is always happy to see you. 16 It may break a few things accidentally in its passion for life, 17 but you can never be mad at love for long. 18
Is love good all the time? No! No! 19 Love can be bad. Bad, love, bad! Very bad love. 20
Love makes messes. 21 Love leaves you little surprises here and there. 22 Love needs lots of cleaning up after. 23 Sometimes you just want to get love fixed. 24 Sometimes you want to roll up a piece of newspaper 25 and swat love on the nose, 26 not so much to cause pain, 27 just to let love know Don’t you ever do that again! 28

Sometimes love just wants to go out for a nice long walk. 29 Because love loves exercise. It will run you around the block 30 and leave you panting, breathless. Pull you in different directions 31 at once, or wind itself around and around you 32 until you’re all wound up and you cannot move. 33
But love makes you meet people wherever you go. 34 People who have nothing in common but love 35 stop and talk to each other on the street. 36
Throw things away and love will bring them back, 37
again, and again, and again. 38
But most of all, love needs love, lots of it. 39
And in return, love loves you and never stops.

Read the selection below and answer the question. an open boat by alfred noyes o, what is that whimpering there in the darkness?

'let him lie in my arms. he is breathing, i know.
look. i'll wrap all my hair round his neck' – the sea's rising,
the boat must be lightened. he's dead. he must go.'

see - quick - by that flash, where the bitter foam tosses,
the cloud of white faces, in the black open boat,
and the wild pleading woman that clasps her dead lover
and wraps her loose hair round his breast and his throat.
'come, lady, he's dead.' - 'no, i feel his heart beating,
he's living, i know. but he's numbed with the cold.
see, i'm wrapping my hair all around him to warm him.' -
- 'no. we can't keep the dead, dear. come, loosen your hold.

'come. loosen your fingers.' - 'o god, let me keep him! ' -
o, hide it, black night! let the winds have their way!
and there are no voices or ghosts from that darkness,
to fret the bare seas at the breaking of day. the imagery and word choice in the second stanza creates a tone of liveliness and joy danger and gloom silence and peace anger and hostility
