3. Isn't that confusing?
4. People all around the world call our game of football, the one with the NFL, "American football." 5. But we Americans once again insist on our way against everyone else.
6. This happened before with the metric system.
7. Everybody but us uses the much more sensible metric system.
8. Citizens of the world get 1,000 meters in their kilometer.
9. American children measure distance with 5,280 feet in their mile.
10. Students learning in China and India measure weight with 1,000 grams in their kilogram.
11. All of the Americans learn about pounds and ounces.
12. None of it makes any sense to most of them.
13. Maybe learning new things is too hard for some people.
14. Maybe American politicians just wanted school to be harder for American children.
15. In either case we are stuck with an outdated system and a proud people.
16. I love being an American by the way.
17. I, too, am a proud American.
18. But it is good to admit mistakes.
19. And America should be good too in my opinion.
20. Anyway, my brother dribbles the soccer ball really far.
