I submit to you that in 2021, technology has advanced to the point where writing and reading have become outdated. It takes public schools 12 years to educate students, and much of this time and expense goes to the task of teaching them to read and then requiring them to read difficult texts which give many of them neither profit nor pleasure. Prior to the 19th century, no one but trained professionals in certain fields had the need for such extensive skill in reading and writing. Now, with the ability to record photos and video, information may be shared widely in other forms besides in writing. True, that at its invention, the arts of writing transformed all of human society. But the burden writing once bore in the culture can now safely be entrusted to videography and audio recording. Individuals and society will function just fine if taxpayer-funded education provides students with education through the second or third grade, an amount of time sufficient to enable them to read "Big Print." This level of reading skill will allow them to drive, and to look up information on the web on indexes of video and audio recordings. Those who have the talent, interest, or desire for further training in reading can be left to their own devices and to social and charitable organizations which may apply for grants from local cultural councils. Older readers may also personally tutor younger readers as in pre-industrial times. No one will hinder them. But the state will no longer fund them.

Usually, when people talk about "rocky” relationships, it’s with a frown, but mine has enriched my life. i became fascinated with rocks when i was really young, and throughout my childhood you could usually find me with my pockets bulging from whatever stony treasures i’d scavenged that day. when my science teacher taught us a unit on geology, i realized that my fascination could become an exciting career that could also me make good money. obtaining an internship to work on the geological exhibit at the museum is an important step on my road to being a geologist. the best description of the writer’s point of view is that the person is eager to make a lot of money in a museum internship. insistent that geology should be taught as part of every science course. hopeful to be able to further the goal of eventually becoming a geologist. concerned that people do not generally relate well to the study of geology.
