This truly depends on your belief in propaganda and the machine during the Cold War, but I digress. Life was reduced to being measured by tests in school then being sent to do that job for life. Conditions were rough as the gov’t controlled housing, material items and other things with a voucher system. Example: getting a car. You get a voucher to exchange and you get the same vehicle as everyone else and whatever color it is—except if you’re in the govt. The people were treated as workhorses to help contribute “their part” to the success of the USSR—nothing more. Should they criticize, they likely disappeared and were never seen or heard from again. There was massive poverty and disparity. It was trickle down—the upper classes got the majority and it sprinkled down to the rest.
