Reading Test San Francisco is a place you really must visit if you are ever in the States. Its most famous feature may be the Golden Gate Bridge. Completed in 1937, this is really a beautiful bridge to cycle or walk over, or just view from your car. One Place nearby for a great view of the bridge is the lively Plesidio. It is also a great place to spend some time outdoors on a nice day. Go windsurfing, jogging, or just relax in the sun. The Palace of Fine Arts is worth a visit, too. No trip to San Francisco is complete without a trip to Alcatraz Island. The highly recommended Alcatraz Tour attracts over one million visitors a year. Do not expect to arrive at Pier 41 and find spare tickets, though. Always book ahead. San Francisco is home to the largest group of Chinese people outside Asia, and many live in Chinatown. It is a great area for walking around. Visit the Jade markets and tea shops, and buy souvenirs before enjoying a great meal. If your preference is Italian food then go to North Beach, or "Little, Italy." Here you will find the best Italian restaurants and wonderful ice cream. For some serious shopping, try Union Square. Many department stores are there. But it is a favourite with the tourists so watch out for the crowds. For more shopping, souvenirs, and entertainment, there is also Fisherman's Wharf the number one destination for visitors to the city. Many people say it is just a big tourist trap, and they are right. However, if you like seafood, Scoma's at the Wharf is the best place in the town to eat. San Francisco is a city where you do not need a car. You can walk or take public transportation everywhere, and there is no better way to learn about the city and its history than by taking a guide tour -good value at just $20. To escape from all noise and people, go to Golden Gate Park. This delightful park includes several great museums and miles of attractive paths to walk. lt has over one million trees and includes a Japanese tea garden.

Read this excerpt from "herd about the flu." the flu shot prevent huge numbers of infections. even when it doesn't fully prevent infection in every person, the shot makes any flu infection less serious. on a global scale, the vaccine can reduce the number of infections only if most people in the community take it. that's because vaccines need to reach enough people to achieve a "herd immunity," the level of immunity needed to prevent the virus from spreading. if too few people get the vaccine, the people who receive it may not be well protected against infection. so the next time you are at the drugstore, and you see no flu shots available, think about the reasons behind it. drug makers are scared to make too many flu shots because they could lose too much money. they then make fewer flu shots and the effect of the flu shots becomes weaker because not enough people take it. people become more reluctant to take the flu shot since they don't think it will fully work. the demand goes down further and the flu companies make even fewer shots the next year. this could continue until the community changes its mind and we all get the flu shot. "that is a community responsibility," says the president of merck, one of the two remaining flu vaccine manufacturers. which argument best supports the passage's claim that more people should get the flu vaccine to stop the virus from spreading? 1.if too few people get the vaccine, the people who receive it may not be well protected against infection 2. so the next time you are at the drugstore, and you see no flu shots available, think about the reasons behind it. 3.people become more reluctant to take the flu shot since they don’t think it will fully work. 4.drug makers are scared to make too many flu shots because they could lose too much money.
