One of the biggest criticisms of Nic Stone’s novel is how smoothly everything goes for Jus. He makes it out of the hood, goes to a prep school, and, as we just found out in chapter 6, gets accepted into Yale. Critics argue that it’s an unrealistic portrayal of how life would likely go for a young, black kid like Justyce in real life. Write an essay response (at least three paragraphs) to those critics and take a stance. Is this a valid argument or not? Consider real life examples and the novel when thinking of support for your argument.
