ESSAY: WRITING A DESCRIPTIVE STORY In this unit, you have been studying language. Specifically, you have learned about the origin, purpose, and meaning of language.

Objective:

Write a three-paragraph descriptive story about your experience with language.
Select one of the following topics:

First experiences in saying words
The most exciting thing you ever heard
Characteristics of a good listener
When you are told "No"
Thoughts, words, and actions
A topic or experience with language of your choice

Write a descriptive story based on the topic that you chose. Your story should be at least three paragraphs and 150 words in length. Remember that a paragraph is about one topic. It has an introductory sentence, usually three or more detail sentences, and a summary sentence. Each new paragraph needs to be indented.

Check your report before you submit it. Did you:

Include your heading at the top of your report? This includes your name, the teacher’s name, the subject, the date, and a centered title.
Include three separate paragraphs in your story?
