What does a summary do?.

A summary is a quick paragraph or more (depends on the scenario) explaining something.

Example:

Lets say you finished reading "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and you need to write a summary about it. You would write about what happened in the story, like the beginning, middle, and end.

Basically a summary is something in a nutshell.
