Read the story A Daring Dive: Tamika loved her beach-filled life. She had moved to Costa Rica 5 years ago to become a dive instructor. She spent her days taking tourists on dive excursions. It was the perfect job. One day, she had a customer who was keenly interested in doing a wreck dive. His name was Kevin. The wreck was quite a distance off shore, much farther than where Tamika usually dove. She was hesitant to take Kevin, but he was very keen and willing to pay a lot of money for the trip, so she agreed.

It was the perfect day for a dive. The water was still, and the sun was bright. It made seeing underwater easier. The wreck was quite deep, which meant they couldn't dive for very long. When they got down to it, Tamika was amazed. The ship was quite old. Most of the ships she had seen underwater were just big, metal shipping boats that had sunk, but this boat was made of wood. It had a huge mast and must have had enormous sails. It reminded her of a pirate ship. They explored for a little bit, and then Tamika motioned that they would have to surface because they were beginning to run low on air, but Kevin dove deeper and pressed on through the ship. He seemed to be searching for something.

Tamika chased after him, knowing that he was putting himself in a dangerous situation. She grabbed him and tried to bring him to the surface, but he hit her on the nose and tried to swim away again. Tamika knew the situation was getting out of hand. She dove down once more, but this time, Kevin panicked. He had run out of air and was struggling to breathe. Tamika grabbed her spare respirator, gave it to Kevin, and dragged him up to the surface. They'd rapidly run out of air with them both sharing her tank. As they were ascending, something caught Tamika's eye. She saw a dolphin below in the wreck and could swear it had a string of pearls and rubies wrapped round its dorsal fin. She wanted to pause to watch it, but she knew she had to get Kevin to the surface, or soon they would both run out of air.

When her crew had hauled Kevin to the boat deck, he coughed and sputtered up all the water he swallowed. When he had recovered, Tamika let him have it.

"What the heck were you thinking, swimming away from me like that? You nearly got yourself killed! What was so important about staying down there with that boat?"

"You saw it, didn't you? Treasure! It's an old pirate ship down there, and it is rumored to be full of treasure. I've been searching for it for years," Kevin coughed.

The next day, Tamika set out again to the very same dive site. The skies were gray and cloudy, so it was going to be much darker down at the wreck, but she was keen to know more about the treasure. She worked up the courage to actually swim into the ship. It was a dangerous mistake. She soon got disoriented inside the ship and didn't know her way out. Then, suddenly, a sea turtle appeared. It swam right up to her and started waving at her, as if she should follow it. It was unusual behavior for a sea turtle, but she didn't really have a better option. She followed the turtle along, up what seemed to be a staircase, and back out to the deck.

She was about to swim to the surface when the turtle waved her on a little farther, toward the mast of the ship. There laid a little golden turtle statue! She picked it up and waved goodbye to the sea turtle, who, amazingly, waved right back! The statue was beautiful. She very much wanted to keep it, but she had a better idea and made her way to visit Kevin.

"I suppose you are here to scold me further for nearly getting us killed. I'm sorry, Tamika. It was foolish of me. The promise of treasure got the best of me," Kevin muttered.

"It nearly got the best of me, too! But, I have a gift that might cheer you up!" Tamika placed the golden turtle in Kevin's hands.

"I may not be keeping that statue, but I will forever treasure the memory of that ship. It was an extraordinary adventure!" said Tamika.
