According to a recent BBC media report, more people speak Mandarin Chinese than any other language in the world. ___it can also be one of the most difficult languages to learn. Since Mandarin Chinese courses are already offered at our city's high school, a course at our school would give us junior high students a head start in learning the language. ___ last year's school poll showed that more than half of the student body wanted to learn a language other than Spanish. However, Spanish is still the only foreign language offered. Jobs in popular fields such as communications are expanding not only beyond our borders but also overseas. some Bayside students may work in these job fields one day. Personally, I would feel more equipped to succeed in a global economy if I spoke the most popular language in the world. In conclusion, a Mandarin Chinese course would help students become more effective communicators here in Bayside and beyond.
