Please help me with this english work!! Part 1

Select an American author (not Poe) who has written in multiple genres. Please avoid using children’s authors. You should find an author who is appropriate for an eleventh-grade English class. For Part 1 submit only the following for approval before beginning your essay:

1. Who your author is,
2. What 2 works you will be writing about,
3. What the genre of each work is,
4. Citations for the 2 literary criticisms you will use in your essay.

Part 2
Submit your essay. Your essay should be 500 words or more and should analyze the author's style, the purpose of each piece, and the techniques the author used in each.

Things to consider when writing your essay (you don’t need to answer all of these questions; just use them for guidance):

1. What format is each piece written in?
2. What is the genre of each piece?
3. Why do you think the author chose that genre to write in?
4. What is the piece about (the subject matter)?
5. What is the purpose of the piece?
6. Does the author always write about the same subject matter?
7. If the author writes poetry, does it rhyme?
8. Are the stories political?
9. Do they follow the rules of grammar?
10. Are the thoughts organized?
