Silver Anniversary When Willie wanted to give his parents a surprise for their anniversary, he knew it would need to be something special. His parents, Marcus and Marie, would be celebrating their 25th Anniversary, known as the Silver Anniversary, so it was a very important event.
Willie first went to his Aunt Tina and inquired if she had any ideas about what he could do to celebrate the momentous occasion. She suggested cooking them a special dinner for two. He liked that idea, but he wanted to do something more personal. Next, he went to his grandmother for suggestions. Nana, who was his father's mother, pulled out her photo album of Willie's parents' wedding.
"Who is that young guy you are dancing with, Nana?" Willie asked as they sat side by side at the dining room table and looked through the pictures.
"Why, that is your father on your parents' wedding day," she replied with a warm smile spreading across her face. "Doesn't he look handsome in his suit and with his long hair? He looked like a movie star!"
Willie couldn't believe it, because, for as long as he could remember, his dad had shaved his head. In these pictures, Willie's dad's hair was wavy, thick, and black, the complete opposite of what Willie was accustomed to. He looks so young, Willie said to himself, still having a hard time believing that was his father. As they flipped through the pages of the album, they came to a large picture of Willie's parents, running towards the car as they were leaving the wedding. They were looking back at the camera, smiling and laughing. Willie instantly knew what he wanted to get his parents for their anniversary.
"Nana, I would like to have a copy of this picture and have it framed for Mom and Dad's anniversary gift," Willie said. "Do you think it's possible to have a copy made?"
"You're in luck, young man," Nana said, as she turned the page in the album, which held an exact copy of the picture.
