How does the Giver explain the strange visions Jonas has? (p. 119) the giver

The Giver told Jonas that the things he saw were because Jonas was able to recognize color before everything else was the same.
It showed that Jonas, like the Giver, was different from the rest of the people in the community because they can see into the future because of the passing of memories.
