The two adjectives that I will use to describe the first speech made by Winston Churchill to the House of Commons are;

This speech which was made on May 13, 1940, on his resumption of office was very blunt in describing his intentions for the nation. He was bent on fighting the war that was sponsored by the Nazi regime and its allies.

When talking about his policy, he stressed that he was determined on fighting using every means that was available to him.

The tone of his speech was also reassuring because, in the end, he declared that he would definitely come out victorious from the battle.

Therefore, the tones of resoluteness and reassurance can be felt by the audience of his speech.
