Excerpt from: momotaro, or "little peachling" japanese folktale a long long time ago there lived an old man and an old woman. one day the old man went to the mountains to cut grass; and the old woman went to the river to wash clothes. while she was washing, a great big thing came tumbling and splashing down the stream. when the old woman saw it she was very glad, and pulled it to her with a piece of bamboo that lay near by. when she took it up and looked at it she saw that it was a very large peach. she then quickly finished her washing and returned home intending to give the peach to her old man to eat. what can be inferred about the old woman? a) she is easily annoyed. b) she is eager to do something nice for her husband. c) she enjoys doing her chores. d) she dislikes doing her chores.

Momotaro, or "Little Peachling" is a famous Asian folktale and it is also part of Japan's unique culture. Moreover, it explores the importance of family in this society. In the story, the old woman is kind and wishes to make her husband happy. When she finds a "big thing", which ends up being a peach, while she is washing clothes in the river, she does not hesitate to take it in order to give the peach to the old man so he can eat it.

the most likely reason why dante included the names of historical figures in his well-known masterpiece the divine comedy is because he was trying to expose his own historical judgement to the figures. he settles different characters of the occidental culture in parts of the hell, purgatory and paradise constituting a spiritual judgment according to his thought.

gilgamesh is a hero by birth as the epic explains it. in the epic the birth is explained in the way which tells us that gilgamesh’s creation was made perfect by the contribution of various god and that signifies the goal in his life, which was to become a hero and save mankind. an example from the text says. "the glorious sun shamash bestowed upon him glory; adad the terrible god of storms bestowed upon him courage. the great gods perfected his magnificence beyond all others, terrible like the great wild bull. two thirds god they made him; one third man they made him." a man born with superhuman qualities and partly god is destined to be a hero.

the heroic deeds carried by him later in his life also prove the heroic character of gilgamesh. for example hi battle with the ultimate beast humbaba is a proof of his bravery and characteristic heroism. gilgamesh was warned about the beast as the text says about humbaba “whose roar is a flood, whose mouth is fire, whose breath is death". but with the superhuman strength gilgamesh did the job
