What happens to people when their dreams are denied? explain their feelings

Well, my teacher asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I told her I wanted to be an attack helicopter, she laughed at me and don't me to stop playing around. This...this hurt my feelings. I lost motivation for a while, I started thinking maybe she laughed because I wasn't good enough? I mean all I had ever known was to be an AC130 but after that, I didn't know anymore...Basically, she feels will be hurt and may lead to depression, loss of motivation may occur which is essentially never a good thing. People should encourage one another, even if it seems like a bad idea at the time. You never know, they might end up surprising you.
