This is also selflessness. She is not thinking about the negative consequences when she gets a free black partner with her shop. From the context of how the paragraph was written, using the term 'free black', this might have been a unique situation. She is being openminded as well. Letting someone with very few opportunities have a great chance of becoming successful.
