Martin Luther King, Jr. quoted Socrates many times in The Letter from Birmingham Jail. He tried to depict the story of Jesus and Hitler as a relationship among the rally of thoughtfulness and mercilessness as the historical precedent.

EXPLANATION:  

In the spring of 1963, King's struggle to end the apartheid at the lunch counter and in recruitment practice enticed national attention when police changed dogs and fired canisters at the demonstrators in Birmingham, Alabama. King was detained many of his supporters, consisting of hundreds of school children but not black priests in Birmingham. He was very much confronted by some white priests who had issued statements that praised African-Americans for not supporting the demonstrations. King wrote a letter with astonishing fluency in which he explained his philosophy of nonviolence from the Birmingham prison.

Towards the climax of the Birmingham campaign, to unite many forces for peaceful revolution and to give a sensation to the country and the world about the importance of solving the U.S. racial issue, King united other civil rights leaders in managing a historic March in Washington. On August 28, 1963, an interracial congregation with more than 200,000 people gathered peacefully in the shadow of the Lincoln Memorial to claim equal justice for all citizens under the law.  

Here, the crowd was raised by the emotional power and prophetic quality of King's eminent "I Have a Dream" speech, which he highlighted his belief that everyone, someday, would become brothers.

The tide that arose from the civil rights campaign produced, as King had expected, powerful influence on national opinion and led to the ratification of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, granting the federal government to enact the integration of public accommodation and forbid discrimination in public facilities and work. This crucial year resulted in an award to King for the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo in December.
