These details all tell us what the chronometer looks like. We know from the first detail the chronometer's size. From the second detail, we are told what the face of the clock looks like. Then the last detail we find out that the chronometer is suspended in brass. The detail "made in 1800" tells us that the chronometer is old, but it is not specific enough to help us picture it unless we already know the history of chronometers. The detail about it being level "in an unsteady ship" also doesn't help us picture the chronometer.
