Les droits fondamentaux sont un groupe de droits qui ont été reconnus par un degré élevé de protection contre les empiétements. Ces droits sont spécifiquement identifiés dans une Constitution ou ont été reconnus dans le cadre d'une procédure légale. Il existe cependant des cas de violation de ces droits dans le monde, les Nations Unies estimant au total 357 meurtres et 30 disparitions forcées de défenseurs des droits humains, de journalistes et de syndicalistes dans 47 pays en 2019. [1] L'Objectif de développement durable 16 souligne le lien entre la promotion des droits de l'homme, qui fait partie intégrante du Programme 2030, et le maintien de la paix.

Fundamental rights are a group of rights that have been recognized by a high degree of protection from encroachment. These rights are specifically identified in a Constitution, or have been found under Due Process of law. There are however instances of violation of these rights around the world with the United Nations estimating a total of 357 killings and 30 forced disappearances of human rights defenders, journalists and trade unionist in 47 countries in 2019.[1] The Sustainable Development Goal 16 underscores the link between promoting human rights which is an integral part of the 2030 Agenda and sustaining peace.
