What are two ways that an ocean can affect a coastline

Tides- the rise and fall of the oceans. Tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon on the water. Deconstructive waves- waves with a larger undertow than the actual waves coming in, taking sediment and other materials into the ocean.

the proximity of water was an advantage to western europe and its culture was able to flourish as a result. trade and travel by sea were easier and safer in historical times.
