Gupta Empire was a major empire in ancient India. It existed from the mid to late 3rd century to 543 CE. This empire covered a major portion of the Indian subcontinent. Some historians consider the ruling period of this empire as the golden age of India.
The Gupta dynasty was founded by the king Sri Gupta. Chandragupta and Samudragupta were notable rulers of this dynasty.
